With proper infection control alpha would have stayed in the UK, delta in India & omicron in African countries (S. Africa sequences unlike its neighbours)

not_cyotee (@NCyotee) reported@aaron0v @signalapp Simple, Signal controls your keys, and the app delivery lifecycle. Yes, it is OS, and anyone can compile and run it. For now. They systematically shut down any popular alternate builds. And they obfuscate the compiled code. You have to use their servers, so at any point they can change the underlying behavior by pushing and update. And the simple fact, if they can recover your key for you, you have no guarantee they can't recover your key for themselves. Matrix allows any client. You control your key. No recovery. If you lose your key, you lose access to all your old messages.

To ship it on the Apple App Store I'd need a §7 App Store additional permission for libsignal (you did this for an earlier library ). I've filed the details in a GitHub issue on the libsignal repo. Maxing out a single objective when the price of that is sacrificing all else is a bad policy.
