@signalapp every update has a dumber and dumber add on. Stories and chat notifications, a. Dumb drag down, a silly voice call feature. The original format (minus calls) with sms ability was damn near THE PERFECT app imo.
-
Pat Scott (@_Stralor) reported
@doctorow @devtrevjournals @signalapp right, they addressed this aspect, which I still argue feels like a rug pull. it's their UX issue to solve, and they've thrown in the towel on it to users' detriment
-
Ignatius Nayvadius (@ignatius_tech) reported
@signalapp how do I contribute to your stories feature on @github? Which script do I edit? I abused @Snapchat and want to help develop your functionality.

sophie malice 🏳️⚧️ (@sophieactual) reported
@EdHerdman @signalapp we have very different experiences all my business, family, and friend connections use signal by preference, with sms as a nuisance legacy issue, often only for dealing with mfa requirements by other apps i haven't sent an "actual" sms message in years

Leftist Refusenik 🕊 (@leftrefusenik) reported
@mhauken Sorry, I avoid apps or service that are exclusive to iOS or that require iCloud. Many superior cross-platform note options. @signalapp for quick notes to self.

Colin 🇺🇦 Childs (@Phoul) reported
So, what SMS app are folks using now that @signalapp has decided to make their terrible decision? Looking for suggestions.
-
deGoogled (@degooglediT) reported
@signalapp As much as you try, Metadata is the problem Signal. You require a number to register so you cannot ever be private. Metadata.
-
Shahedur Rahman (@shahedurrahman) reported
@signalapp i was a beta tester for the android app, which started crashing. i have decided to leave beta and reinstall the app, and now i can't login. it constantly says "too many attempt to register this number, try again later" can you please help?
-
Leo (@LeoVasanko) reported
@fanboynz @naomibrockwell @signalapp It is, like all other services that you use are tied to either your phone number or your email. If you care, get a disposable "receive SMS" service or a burner phone, register and set Signal PIN so that anyone else cannot transfer your account even if they get the same number.

Professional Irritant (@paraVestibulum) reported
@Phoul @signalapp I'm dealing with the exact same issue. I don't understand how this makes sense.
-
Derek Payton (@dmpayton) reported
@kscottz @signalapp 💯%. They're going to remove a key feature that brought users to them in the first place (hi) because they can't (or don't want to) put forth the effort into solving a UI/UX problem? I'd also pay for it but, in all honesty, I'll likely stop using Signal once SMS support is gone.
-
T19778 (@T19778) reported
@signalapp It is terrible idea. Now I have one app to communicate with all my friends, no matter if they use Signal or plain SMS. If I had to use two apps, think which one I should choose to write to someone, I will probably find other solution.
-
Matt Warren ⚡ (@mattkwarren) reported
SMS support was the key factor in 100% of the conversions I made to @signalapp (including my own). Account deleted due to terrible UX now. @BriarApp is headed in a better direction. I like it and donate to that project instead now. No shitcoins promoted either.

brainscan (@mh2cc) reported
@signalapp I have a problem with transfer data from android to android. It stops at 98, 3%. I tried everything. Reboot. Restore backup. Nothing works.

@BTC_DataInsight @signalapp Do you know the link to t[he article about MEV Bot that will help me get rich?:}]

Never Give Up (@DaleMacLean1) reported
@signalapp as a long time signal user. I'm disappointed to know signal no longer will offer sms service. Signal thinks that doing this may encourage more to switch to signal. 1% to 10% of people that will swap to signal. Sadly i will have to go back to a different provider.
-
trevor devooght (@devtrevjournals) reported
@_Stralor @signalapp @doctorow SMS bot exploitation is a real thing. It costs companies trying to run a secure, honest service pretty hefty sums, especially if they’re utilising affordable alternatives that don’t have bells and whistles. Like, say, a nonprofit might.
-
Noiz (@noizsecurity) reported
@masterchaerge Interesting article... it seems that the issue was a messaging app installed on the devices. If you're using @signalapp or something like @session_app you should be fine, even on a state-compromised device.
-
Trev (@realTrevDev) reported
Since @signalapp is dropping SMS support, I am dropping signal. Over the years signal has been a source of hope for Android users. They may as well be just like any other centralized service who says "just trust us, we've got your best interests in mind".
-
Jasmine Leiva (@jasminaminta) reported
@nowherecee @signalapp Oh no, is it going down?
-
Chas Benth (@fubizitch) reported
@BukhaledAUH @signalapp #signalapp @signalapp It is still the ONLY way to chat with 100% of my friends and family. Any other service gives <10%. We understand the concerns, and if Apple ever concedes and supports RCS, then we'll be happy to swap SMS. Until then, Signal needs to just keep it.
-
𝗱𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗲 (@dlune_) reported
@signalapp Ive used your service both for public texts and secure messaging for a good while. In the long run with abandon the service of public texting on your products, is one of the most stupid decision you guys done tbh. You will lose customers in the long run. Its a shame.

anders kjærulff (@kjaerulv) reported
@punkt A better headset would be nice? And a solution to the @signalapp problem - that you cant have a desktop vs. running same time as pigeon, because no camera...
-
NjSpencer (@NjSpencerA) reported
@signalapp what good is this when you can't use the app as your default sms service because not everyone is on the app
-

@780thC @WIRED @signalapp otherwise sanction Telegram (if possible) and cut the kremlin off, although that will only help so much.
-
Jacinta Is. (@jarichaust) reported
@wint_rmute @signalapp That's a good start. I still think this is a terrible idea.
-

@signalapp my app keeps crashing for my XR what’s going on? I’m deployed right now and this is the army’s source of communication. Retrieving data error and it keeps closing

@the_aiju @signalapp @telegram the only issue with it is no E2E encryption by default, but not a big deal for most
-
Benny (@BennyAitch) reported
@signalapp removing SMS support is not going to help privacy when you lose a huge portion of your user base! And your rationale about "hidden costs" is a red herring - people already had those costs. Poor decision.
