******* hell the Android @signalapp kept crashing on me when my friend texted me on his account when the name didn't match and i had the conversation over sms open. Had to clear all of the data in it in order to fix the damn bug and lost all chat message's!

@telecon @signalapp 'used to me changing keys' is a problem. Hijacking SMS to take someone's number on signal is very trivial. Even if you have a PIN there's a 7 day cool down if you forget it. If you're out on vacation for 2 weeks this can be an issue. I post a public signed doc with my safety #'s

@har00ga @signalapp i feel like this ties in with the issue of identifying your account with a phone number in the first place, because even if you couldn’t remove a contact at least that list would be less easy to identify with you, no?

@signalapp I've gotten several of my friends to follow me over onto Signal so that I can get rid of WhatsApp. However, several of them are reporting issues with suddenly just not getting notifications or getting them intermittently. Any advice? Mostly android phones I think.

@signalapp I just did a reset on my phone, and trying to reinstall Signal, I am stuck at the "Enter the code we sent to …" step. No SMS arrives, neither I receive a coode. My service provider says everything on their end is alright.

@the_etruscan @signalapp I don’t know what you’re referring to. Can you say something more? You do only need someone’s phone number to send a message, but that’s also true of iMessage and SMS. Doesn’t seem like an issue to me.

Anyone run into this @signalapp issue on Android? Share a URL from browser and select Signal as share app. Send message. Go back into Signal later, and find your share and preview is prepop'd again in compose. Delete and do a new message. Repeat. Eventually stops, idk why

Woke up to see that @signalapp, which I never use, had a notification badge. Opened it to a full screen dialog demanding that I set up a PIN. “Learn more” yields a very jargony document that does not help. Thinking of just deleting the app. Is this what being old is like?

@signalapp I'm getting no ticks on messages (not even sending) and receiving nothing, though I know things have been sent. No connection/internet problem. Others seem not to have an issue. It's not you, it's me?

@RobL_L @donk_enby @signalapp if this is who I'm thinking of, then they aren't slamming signal for no reason. They're bringing up the point that as-is, there are security issues with the app, and she said she would be completely fine if signal didn't fix it but just disclosed it.

@posco @signalapp I believe the issue was specifically notifying them in a way that can’t be disabled. this isn’t my domain. I think every reminder comes with risk is the sentiment.
