This is what I find so frustrating about Mississauga's municipal wifi network: I can get it in so many random places, but because it's so locked down (80 & 443, no weird stuff) it's basically unusable. No SIP, no Skype, no Telegram, no weird stuff. What a waste. 😔

@malpani It's because instead of quickly fixing the underlying issues, Microsoft spent years trying to redesign Skype. Nokia did the same mistake earlier when they chose Windows Phone because it feared Samsung would 'come to dominate Android'

@Liam_Baxter31 We were still both in the UK, so really sorry I’m probably not much help. We did spend a fortune travelling to see each other and spoke at least once a day on the phone or Skype. Other than staying busy is important (otherwise I’d mope).

@BeirutiBrit Urgh, I remember this nonsense. Spending hours of Skype credit on the phone to my bank trying to explain that their verification texts would definitely not arrive. They had literally no way of thinking around that problem because the system was the system.

@MA199763554687 @inyeoplove That’s all High School progress that was thrown away when he went to the US. Why would be physicaly isolated be a problem. Skype, zoom, video calls, its easy to still be connected to everyone but his habits kicks in, he didn’t learn, and he chose to isolate himself.
