The biggest thing I can think of is when multiclassing with rogue or fighter, but even that is rather self balancing due to spell slot use.

Which isn't really that broken in the grand scheme of things when you consider all of the paladin's other abilities. It's like lighting a car on fire that has no engine. Yeah it doesn't *help* things, but it's not really damaging it more than it already is.

Optional Rule (@optionalrule) reported@justicearman @WhitbyWrites I asked this question a long time ago. The answer was something akin to theme. Paladin's are not a ranged class. Mechanically the only real problem I can see is that they've already let go of the weapon before they know if it'***** to deliver the smite.
