I mean, why would a streamer "limit" their viewers when the exact opposite happens on Twitch: the number of viewers is far lower than the actual number.

NosAsrai VT🌃😈🌊 VCelestial (@NosAsrai1) reportedIm seeing people not understand why people would choose to turn this on. There have been alot of cases where people will veiwbot a random streamer. This tends to be either a misguided fans who think it will help their fav streamer grow or ******* who want to get the streamer in trouble and potentally banned. By putting the cap on, it minimises the chance of this happening. My only @TwitchSupport question: How will this effect raids? Would a raid number allow the count to go over the cap?

💙🖖Cosmopean🖖💙 (@cosmopean) reported@codlinks78 @TwitchSupport Because for years trolls have been botting streamers to try and get them in trouble with Twitch. As a result people have been asking for ways to voluntarily cap their count in cases where they know they're being botted.
