@AOL unable to sign into email for last week. No response from customer services. No one to talk to either😡😡Absolute joke. Important emails that I cannot access. AOL can you please get on to this. Beyond frustrating.

@AOLSupportHelp We have been going around in circles and the reason I’ve tweeted my issue is I can’t get anywhere because we’ve done all the security Q’s and still 0 - I need to speak with a human being.....

@aolmail I’ve been attempting to retrieve my wife’s AOL password for the past 10 or more emails with your supposed email support. Its merry go round getting nowhere. Please assist.

  • YardleyShooting

Utterly useless service from AOL/Yahoo/TalkTalk yet again following my complaint reference the breakdown/failure of their systems. So irritating when you pay for a service and don't get it. I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. @AOL

  • YardleyShooting
Mike Yardley (@YardleyShooting) reported from City of London, England

I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. If it doesn't work, they shouldn't take my money. @TalkTalk is a useless outfit too. I was called for months by fake Indian call centres after their data hack. My home internet sucks. @AOL @Ofcom

When it first arrived — and I made a blog there within the first two months of its public existence — @tumblr was the near perfect blogging platform. Then AOL destroyed it. Now it’s a horrible jail where I can’t get rid of this dumb screen. Thanks @automatic.

@sky_waller I scored one. I never knowingly had an AOL account. Don't you feel sorry for today's kids.

@johncardillo 1) No you didn't win, and the court records show it 2) Still not my name 3) Let's dig into your stupid claims even as they are. Your left screenshot, which I already went and pulled from the courts, shows the case was dismissed due to identity theft, NOT a judgement (see first attachment). Congratulations, John, you just committed defamation against that man. 4) Your second screenshot defeats itself. I've went ahead and marked it up for you (see 2nd attachment). You keep posting a WITHDRAWAL of an attempt. Now I know you don't know what that means since your FICO score is sub-500 and you can't buy a house, but that means it was withdrawn due to error. If you do a public records search, the bank in question stated that the note was sold between holding companies and the payments he was making weren't being properly applied to the new account, not that he wasn't paying. Meanwhile, there is nothing in the court history that says the judgement AOL got against you was dismissed or even satisfied. So you're lying. You're really bad at this. And oh, by the way, Johnny Boy, I'm gonna go ahead and forward all of this to him, cause now he has a rock solid defamation suit against you. And he's litigious AF. Enjoy, bitchboy, heh.

.@Ask_Spectrum is worse than AOL dial up—by far. Some manager gave me his number so I could call him if things got bad again. No reply. I need to spend my time trying to save my life from the massive malpractice by Kaiser. My energy is just crushed every day. I struggle to write even a few lines. Dealing with Spectrum again and again and again and it never been fixed is energy outlay I cannot afford.

@eyecewe @hthieblot It was a masterpiece. AOL, spawn of hell, bought out Netscape in 1998 & deliberately destroyed it trying to force people back to hell. Worst decision in internet history.

  • objectextinct
    Methodical (@objectextinct) reported

@hthieblot apps didn't exist but Gamestorm. AOL was running a $2 an hour game service for a few early MMOs like Starship Troopers battlespace. Even Spades cost $1/hr. Eventually a game service called "Gamestorm" had a bunch of games like multiplayer Warcraft 2, Godzilla Online, Starship Troopers, Aliens, Silent Death, Legends of Kesmai, board games ..etc for $15 a month. So everyone from AOL could play Starship Troopers or Silent Death (Both top down space shooters) unlimited and we would regularly take breaks on the other games. There wasn't anything else like it at the time. Then all the games got deleted and rights issues means they all disappeared forever, rip.

i stole the AIM passwords of everyone in my highschool and published them on my website (600 accounts) when i was in 9th grade, the school put me in a computer class with seniors cause they didn't know what to do with me. i ended up hired by the school to help with IT i was super immature despite my technical skills and i didn't have anyone around me to recognize / steer me in the right direction. adults often get confused by a kid with high intelligence and assume everything else about the kid must be on their level. well, it isn't i wrote a program and installed it as admin on every pc to extract passwords from aol instant messenger. after a couple weeks i had everyone's password i then published them all on my personal website and called them all dumbasses in the process. zero couth. total cringe. the site went "viral" in the school district and i was fired the next day when i realized the stupidity of what i had done, i was extremely embarrassed. in fact, I'm embarrassed thinking about it now, even 23+ years later. despite that, it was a major learning experience that shaped how i handle the responsibility of personal information thereafter

@hthieblot AOL teen chat rooms. It’s scary to think I never considered that some of the others there may not have been teens.

@asymtrades @ChrisCamillo @KrisPatel99 agreed ..open source is the way and those compute resources will just be allotted to open models .. the only question is will OpenAI and Anthropic be what AOL is to firefox or what Apple is to android .. will there be a significant market for a premium service or not ..

I've never experienced psychosis, but in 2020 my friend who had bipolar experienced severe psychosis that resulted in his death. I met J when I was a teen back in the AOL days. I was going through a lot and he told me to get my *** back to school, finish high school and go to uni
