@theliamnissan I know quite a few Karens who aren't Karens, and some Brandons who aren't considered Biden. Why can't folks just use normal terms: dipstick, jerk, *******, dipwad, creep, bully, fool, idiot... I'll stop here, lest I get in trouble with Twitter like I did AOL
POPPIN MY COLLAR——wait does this dj got aol wtf
from North Cape May, New Jersey
@salamisanwhich @AOL @PressSec They never had it affect them. My neighborhood was looted twice and boarded up for months. It's why I left. Try going to a boarded up store that has nothing to sell because it's all been stolen. Or you can't get your prescriptions because they were stolen.🤔🤔
@ischarstillhere That gives me nightmares of trying to cancel stuff like AOL back in the day! With call centers in India 😳
@eevee It doesn't matter. A top-down approach to something like the internet or metaverse won't work. What's the legacy from AOL, CompuServe, Prodigy, etc? The gif format. We'll end up with an organically grown metaverse made by people after the dust settles.
@WriterJane74 Never had AOL if that makes you feel better!
@andhankmarducas @atrupar @MiamiHerald Not a problem for me as I never remove the AOL cd from my drive
Sorry I don’t trust anybody who still uses aol email and hotmail. Y’all never grew up.
@STIKIDIKIJ @georgehahn @janemarielynch I meant in so far as they tried to become a partitioned section of the internet that nobody ever has to leave. And, they became cheesy AF. You are correct though that AOL never even got close to FB's algorythmic confirmation-bias dopamine-rewarding feedback-loops.
@FurFoxSakeSuits Damn… this is where something like the aol, “goodbye” sound force playing on them before them being blocked would be perfect… but sadly the problems that lead up to people acting like this never go away ~.~ so there will be more people like this :(

I can't help but feel like taking cues on how to talk about "the metaverse" from Facebook et. al is a bit like letting Prodigy/AOL define what "the internet" means if there's a technological leap at all, it shouldn't be defined solely by the corporations that want to control it
@woke_oak I've heard the "cable is dying" excuse a gazillion times. In the US? Sure In 3rd world contrives where internet is a ******* joke on some AOL type ****? (*cough* southeast asia) Nah, It's thriving more than it's ever been.
I need a lil chibi of my sona Probably with the AOL loading bar and obnoxious screeching above my head Cause I get terrible reception
@DougSaunders @AGuyNicholson oh yes...that is a classic! (P.S. I tried to sign up for an AOL email as a joke and the process is so bad I gave up. There are still old colleagues I know with one of those.)
