Back in the day, I was catfished on MySpace. This girl was using her cousins pics as her own. This was the AOL/AIM days, so you know XeLBoW did his investigative work and called her out when shit got fishy.

@FlyinBrianJr Yes, I'm conyacting AOL customer service, and they told me to try another dial-up server, and update the software for AOL instant messaging. Still waiting for a good connection. That 1 gig speed internet isn't an improvement either.

Then on 1 December 1996, AOL went flat rate. $19.95. Unlimited. Average usage went from 7 hours a month to 23. The network collapsed. Customers sued. States opened investigations. The CEO had to publicly ask 8 million people to please use the internet less.

@Wild_Nefari @Hulex My only reason for discord usage is for streaming & community build it has far better tools for that. TG I use it for virtually anything. But damn I do miss the days of MIRC or AOL cause when you send a file it doesnโ€™t matter how big it was.

  • joeygems
    Joseph Gems (@joeygems) reported

@james_xond yes. Aol still have it, still use it. Everybody knows it, so why would I change it. Plus, I have a long, difficult last name. So, Gmail doesn't work for me.

@EnableEm @edzitron Just post the short position retard or the worthless puts. I tried to be nice but you can't provide any counter arguments besides repeatedly posting "2% broad customer demand for AI 4yrs post GPT 3.5, internet was 22% 3yrs post AOL CDs". **** off

  • pauly1UP
    Respectful Witness (@pauly1UP) reported

@peterpuma4 @nodqdotcom @TripleH Russo kept an audience of 3 mil. and had to deal with the lack of funding and support from AOL/TW. Meanwhile HHH has infinite funding, streaming, resources of TKO, and the show is still DYING. Russo had 3x the ratings as HHH. They said ratings didn't matter, but now empty arenas?

  • BarkReynolds
    Bark Reynolds (@BarkReynolds) reported

@CryptoCyberia civilization went demonstrably down hill when AOL started shipping access to the internet to everyone's mailbox

  • PupHydrogen
    Michael Javert (@PupHydrogen) reported

@remarks I hope they get rid of all the crap and the tattoo FREAKS. I just visited @Myspace and it's a mess. I want a blank page that I can build myself and I hope I don't NEED to know code to do it, but that the coding and copy and pasting is still there. It was a great space and Tom was the best friend. Never cared what I posted, never censored me, never suspended my account or made me play pictionary to get in. I could just log in, find friends, talk to them, have a blog, and say whatever I want without getting dinged for it. It even served as my America Online Profile when AOL went to that Bebo crap or whatever that nonsense was. Hope My Space will be free too. No data broker nonsense.

@honeymoon250 20, but maybe 19. I never had aol. I used Prodigy. Have you ever even heard of that service?
