@0xTomoyo Late thirties and I like discord. I mean it has all the same UX issues as other iterations of tech going back to the AOL chatrooms. It's fun tho.

  • timofyourlife Tim Shreve 🦇🔊🐼 (@timofyourlife) reported

@0xTomoyo If you're early to mid 30s and dislike Discord, you were probably never into chat platforms at all. I'm amazed there was such a gap between Discord and chats we 30-somethings used to use (IRC, Yahoo, AOL). Message boards weren't the same.

@CMA_Hudson As someone whose been online since AOL first went national, allow me to state with absolute certainty that people have ALWAYS been stupid pieces of ****. It was true before social media. It was true before the internet. It was true for all time. Always.

Actually now that I think about it, a guy in his 60s with an AOL address has never worked for someone else, and never had to change it. Never had to worry about technology. And still pays $14.99 a month for email. This dude might be a billionaire

  • iam_djflem ‘Femi Davies-Awe (@iam_djflem) reported

@retailgeek @web AOL was metered hourly until late 1996! Compuserve's UI sucked, was late to screennames, bad browser and email experience, etc. By then it was already toast.
