@juliaccarreon Layer onto this the requisite need for instant access. Both of us are old enough for 4 TV channels, pay phones, AOL disks in the mail, and dial-up internet. Now, if the website is slow, or the UI stinks, I move on. Also, I don't want to pay for information (or be the product).

@jimcramer I had a friend who worked for time Warner at the time. They moved their email to AOL. It was a disaster. Limited attachment sizes practically shut down the business.

@Grady_Booch But srsly - feels like we're in 1997 Internet w/ crypto. Which token is AOL (BTC?), which is SUNW (ETH? ADA? XRP?) and which is AMZN (MATIC? NANO? SOL? WTF knows?) But the vast majority are like the IPOs w/ no revenue back then (DOGE, etc.)

@MrAviator1906 or comparing? but that was the Yahoo/AOL era so **** wasn't as terrible as it is now but now? nobody understands reality anymore

  • bornjinx1 🦋bornjinx🦋 (@bornjinx1) reported

@Marvel42Captain I remember when soft drinks were packaged in glass bottles, .89 gal gas, fully leaded gas, and it was rare to find a beverage in plastic. It was the worst getting kicked off aol bc of an incoming call, and RoTJ in theaters.
