  • thejohnjansen John Jansen (@thejohnjansen) reported from Camden Town, England

@teleject @meyerweb It kinda does though... With MSN Explorer (yes that was a thing in 2001, competing with AOL) we enabled "toast notifications" and the name was because "the little thing popped like the toast on the screensavers." Real toast never does that. It sits there. It sometimes Burns.

@AOLSupportHelp Hi Guys, password prompt now so frequent; every time I open my AOL email account. Please ask your engineers to fix quickly. Thanks so much.

AGREED! Every kid except me had nice shiny internet...we were stuck with that shitty AOL dialup that we were only allowed to use to play Cartoon Network games on if we were good 🥴

  • brokenbottleboy Mic Wright 🏳️‍🌈🏴‍☠️ (@brokenbottleboy) reported from Poplar, England

When it first arrived — and I made a blog there within the first two months of its public existence — @tumblr was the near perfect blogging platform. Then AOL destroyed it. Now it’s a horrible jail where I can’t get rid of this dumb screen. Thanks @automatic.

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • MrGoldstein7 Goldstein (@MrGoldstein7) reported

Reza II was not operating his own intelligence network out of his home in Virginia with “sophisticated electronics.” Were his informants emailing him secret messages from their dial-up AOL? And if any of this were true, he certainly wouldn’t let the LA Times publicize it.

  • ChaudoinWill Will Chaudoin (@ChaudoinWill) reported

@SulimanHK And if AOL didn't want to sell it would have remained. You keep coming back to the main thing that it was AOL. WCW was still watched by twice the audience WWE is watched by now. It was still the highest rated program on it's network. It was AOL that killed it. Not WWE

  • MasculineTribe Todd Michael (@MasculineTribe) reported

@Sly4thYeFathful This makes sense. All I had as a teenager was AIM messaging, and it was either words or letters or it wasn't said. I would sign in to my dial up free trial of AOL, check if any of my friends were online, then find creative ways to avoid using words I didn't know how to spell.

  • KrisBryant2014 Kris Bryant 🏳️‍🌈 (@KrisBryant2014) reported

@N0toriousKat Oh, I remember the AOL chats and screens and all the different names one could pick. How did we manage to survive this and not die from serial killers or just really bad people?

  • robyg147 Hibs (@robyg147) reported

**** sake aol has just changed

  • EricSanchez40 Eric (@EricSanchez40) reported

Bet you the clown who came to “install” att fiber didn’t do jack **** 😒 Cuz this internet acting like fukin dial up aol

  • DarbysCastle Darby Abbott (@DarbysCastle) reported

This is something to really, really ***** about when the network is government funded..... ://www.aol.com/too-much-bbc-gets-complaints-114735855-140958651.html?soc_src=aolapp

  • DavidMacLuna David MacLuna (@DavidMacLuna) reported

I've been seeing a lot of "I'm old enough that..." here lately. Well, *I'm* old enough that I remember using dial-up AOL - and I was a Livejournal early adopter. We invented broadband cuz dinosaurs kept knocking the POTS lines down.

  • JesseCruz4L Jesse Cruz (@JesseCruz4L) reported

@AOL @AOLSupportHelp worst customer service even after 16+ years using your domain.

  • ident1kitt kit marks (gull) 🏴🚩Ⓐ (@ident1kitt) reported

two hours a week and months' worth of purely typing classes. mavis beacon and other typing programs iirc. my scores were garbage until i went into rp chats on aol and speed was basically required
