Jin Ling. Come help me guess Wei Wuxian's AOL password

  • Geiiga Geiiga (@Geiiga) reported

@LDBurnett @USATODAY If you subscribe and want to cancel, you actually have to make a phone call and talk to what seems to be a former AOL employee who will refuse to let you cancel until they sense you're about to lose your temper.

@LeahHolleran @chel_c_cam Lol it may be they have to have some browser and just use Firefox for something different. More likely it's what the author uses lol. Aol, unlikely. A preteen searching for login instead of going to the site, lol, also unlikely.

One of my earliest internet memories is, when we first got an AOL account in like 1994, I uploaded a picture of Bartman that my 4 year old brother drew in KidPix and many months later a stranger emailed me "Just wanted to say that this sucks so bad!"

@De80fenderJapan People on Twitter bitching that they don’t have their own cage. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s kinda like AOL never really went away and these “big think” types can only think in those terms.

  • KyleJT Kyle JT 🍌🍷 (@KyleJT) reported

@DaytimeDan @snowmanomics It’s like someone saw Bernie memes in 2016 and 2020 and was like, “THIS IS HOW WE WIN SUPPORT AMONG YOUNG VOTERS!” And then they handed the task off to a 54 year old dude named Chad who still forwards AOL chain letters and uses a flip phone, but has a Reddit account.

  • highmileage Adam📸On Insta! (@highmileage) reported from Prineville, Oregon

Been downloading GT7 for 24 hours and counting. If this damn hotel dialup gets any slower, I'm going to boot up Winamp and AOL IM my crush.

  • Stumpjumper88 Carl Spackler (@Stumpjumper88) reported

@Buba_bear @AssetReset Netscape and AOL had a big user base too. Not to sound pithy or annoying but if 1 lesson Ive learned with early new tech is that u never know what will survive. Something always new and unforeseen arises that messes up the calculus.

  • DwivC Charu (@DwivC) reported

AOL would have never let this happen
