  • CharlesEichholz Charles Eichholz (@CharlesEichholz) reported

@EavensonSandra @PoodleSkirt2 @th3j35t3r We never had AOL-it was always cheap local dial ups.

  • reedlamont2 LaMont Reed (@reedlamont2) reported

I am probably the only guy in the 2000s that has never used AOL messenger

  • AaronHorrocks Aaron Horrocks (@AaronHorrocks) reported

@GoodShibe @BillyM2k I came here to say this. The internet was mostly paying too much money to AOL to use chatrooms to argue with strangers on the internet. Most websites were terrible.

  • souperken ken 🍓 (@souperken) reported

@aolmail okay so without paying $5 to access an email account i thought had been deleted years ago i can’t get into it and, by extension, can’t get into my facebook because their customer service is also nonexistent? great.

  • sbisson Simon Bisson (@sbisson) reported

@marypcbuk @threddyrex So I hacked together a software router on an old PC running Windows that would share the AOL client's connection with all the other machines on our home network (at the time all in one room and wired), and nailed up the AOL client with another app that kept it online.

@slowgazer @ElijahSchaffer I mean, it’s the same argument people made in AOL chat rooms 20 years ago for using profanity. If you violate the terms of service, you’re gonna get banned. At least we can say **** here.

  • AllenHopson2 Allen M. Hopson (@AllenHopson2) reported

@SoCassandra Sure, why not? After all this, I'd say we can have a throwback summer as a treat. (Heh, guess that means I gotta break out the old Game Boy Advance, and maybe some classic DS games. If only AOL was still around, then you'd really be set.)

  • gravitygrave_ exo runaway supremacy (@gravitygrave_) reported

@braviary @freebrynnn__ thank god every day this **** wasn’t around when i was in HS… I was just being edgy on AOL message boards and in chatrooms

@shazzamcconnell About 20 years age when I first had the internet, I called the AOL helpline and got a girl from Waterford. I'm from Glasgow and we had a good blether for about an hour, didn't solve any internet problems though.
