Karen (@Waywoman) reported@NotTodayEric I had a 22 year old ask me what "aol" was the other day. She looked at me like I was crazy when I described the discs that came in the mail and played her the sound it made when it connected to the internet. Damn kids have no idea what we went through.

sean (@usrbinsean) reported@BrianRoemmele It was quite the revelation I could finally take those free AOL floppies from deep storage and use them for Linux boot disks instead. From a time when I would literally have a disk get bad sectors going from drive to drive while never leaving my hand, they were really well made.

William Parker (@wmprkr) reported@0xpwnie I think I was in 5th grade. Having internet in your house was still a rare thing and it was dial-up if it was. America Online. Everyone I knew used AOL discs as coasters for their Coca-Cola or whatever they drank. First computer was a Macintosh Performa 475. The webs speed was garbage back then, but we didn't have anything to compare it to. Social media wasn't a thing, it was forums and IRC. But man every single website was an amazing journey into a different realm. They called it the Summer that never ended, and boy lemme tell ya if you were there at that time, you'd give up all this fast web **** for a stroll down memory lane in a heartbeat.
