@ViktorBunin @compoundfinance Code as law is something slightly different I’d argue, like how small biases might lead to big unintended consequences due to code being law. AOL banning ”breast” as a word meant that the American Breast Cancer Society could not discuss its issues on AOL. Example from @lessig

Look, I never took down my myspace page, and I probably still have an AOL email somewhere out there, so I'm probably never going to delete my facebook page either. It will just become as irrelevant as the other things I no longer use.

Mad as hell bc I had to delete then re-login to my aol account on my phone (shut up, I know) and the notes in my notepad app I wrote from the end of June-present were not backed up So many single lines of lyrics that were never going to become anything, gone

@H3KTlC I remember AOL chat rooms, those were like the wild west in there. almost no rules. Modern social media is much more locked down than it was bsck then for sure. If "ASL" was entered, things were about to get real. lol.

@shamrock3122 @GdCopBdCop @DocAtCDI I've been part of a few art shows that specialized in artwork using CDs, but typically the ones used were the spam CDs we got through the mail, for AOL as just one example, and CDs that no longer worked. I would NEVER trash a working music CD, but then, I'm a musician too.
