@potatoreptile @underfredgagne @JackWilliamRtF I did work at blockbuster and when I applied at AOL the person interviewing me literally told me that they said they’d never heard of me when she called. And boy is that an old fashioned sentence.

It’s annoying calling customer service lines and the person you end up on the phone with has cheap equipment. Like it’s no reason I should be hearing an AOL dial up while we’re tryna connect in the phone 😭

@rustilyn SO YOUNG! I don't ever remember having issues like this, granted we didn't have the internet, but even with AOL there wasn't bullying like there is now. Distance learning reduced a lot of their stress, honestly.

Bc HuffPo is trending I'm remembering a 2012 freelance job I did in the AOL/HuffPo offices. On a tour of the building we peeked in the cavernous HuffPo room. Boss told us not to talk to anyone from HuffPo about our project, bc it would put many of them out of work. Bad vibe!

@sarahw @heybonanos I was part of a network of local BBSes in DC (one of which was eventually the subject of a Buzzfeed feature???) but for some reason never did the AOL/Compuserve/Prodigy thing

I mean HuffPo was never Yahoo! or AOL but I think it must be tough for Millennials or GenZ to grasp a world w/o the internet, w/o FB or Instagram? I guess an older generation might feel the same way about the importance of a RadioShack or a Woolworth's or Sear's though?

it's not like aol had bad cgi it's ok but that dream deer was.....questionable also some of the scenery effects made everything look like fairy dollhouses even when the time for it and the overall place wasn't really made to be viewed in that way
