@MrGGallacher Yep. Dial up modem. Sign into AOL first. Proper crap. Kids don’t know how good they’ve got it these days (typing on a mobile phone with instant connection)

@CharlieF3795 Read the Nitro Book by Guy Evans and Nina Munks When Fools Rush In about the AOL/Time Warner merger. . . A lot of WCWs 62 million dollar “loses” were based on bad faith accounting parking overall loss into WCW. It was something AOL had done since before they went public.

  • sdbyresurection SadBoyRessurection (@sdbyresurection) reported

@cbouzy Y’all could never survive a Xbox live party or aol chat

  • Scott_Boulis SB (Official Tiger Tracker 2022 Masters) (@Scott_Boulis) reported

@johnjhcoyle But do you remember dial up when someone was on the phone and you couldn’t login to AOL?

  • GunnTheReaper 💀𝕲𝖚𝖓𝖓𝕿𝖍𝖊𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖕𝖊𝖗💀 (@GunnTheReaper) reported

@Loso198 @MaracleMan WCW also died because of horrible booking decisions which drove down ratings. AOL would have kept them if ratings stayed up. And TK is using his fathers money too so he is kinda like Dixie. Either way AEW is making similar mistakes.

  • Chrystan2001 Donald Stevenson (@Chrystan2001) reported

@ericowensdc I see more of an AOL. Someone will buy it while it's valuable. There will be a streaming service consolidation; Netflix is the biggest brand out there. Nothing lasts with capitalism's creative destruction because innovation doesn't stop. Tesla has no electric car monopoly.

  • DJNYCNY DJ (@DJNYCNY) reported

@allahpundit This isnt remotely on the scale of New Coke. Frankly, it's not even the worst business disaster at this company--the AOL merger is the worst merger in history.

  • Nerdy_Marc Marc (@Nerdy_Marc) reported

@fesshole When I worked for AOL we didn’t have caller id systems, but that was when they had outsourced IT support to a 3rd party who cut every corner they could. Did have a customer have problems looking at all the porn he had saved though.

  • HumblWarrior81 RGY (@HumblWarrior81) reported

@KingDoggoXRP I use the AOL and Google analogy. Or a MS Access Jet database vs Amazon Web Service SQL database.

  • Marg0214 Margaret (Marg0214) (@Marg0214) reported

In 1996 AOL cost for dial up service was $41 a month for 19 hours of primitive internet. Who remembers the sound of the computer dialing the phone & you sit there crossing your fingers, hoping it will connect??

  • Phatazzbottomb1 Phatazzbottomboi (@Phatazzbottomb1) reported

@celebrityleakss Hmm. . .What was I doing at 15 🤔? Maybe, on the party line or AOL. Definitely AOL but, it wasn't for trying to **** 😫.
