    @_tinatruth Steve Bartlett explained financial bubbles in one minute. The AOL–Time Warner story is a powerful reminder that HIGH VALUATION IS NOT THE SAME AS REAL VALUE. It reminded me of something I wrote on August 17 on my post 👇 A GREAT ASSET doesn’t automatically make a GREAT INVESTMENT. Pay too much, and your returns can suffer. Allocate too much capital, and one mistake can damage your entire portfolio. That’s why I believe good investing isn’t just about choosing the right asset. It’s about paying the RIGHT PRICE and sizing your position wisely. The AOL–Time Warner story didn’t teach me that lesson. It reinforced it.     The horde is following each other off a cliff believing Madam Media’s hysterics over open source. I believe either Anthropic, OpenAI, or a newer competitor—or all three—will be ten times bigger than they are today within the next text years. The media is giving emotional reasons for the impending doom of frontier models. They’re spending more than they make isn’t evidence when every revolutionary tech giant did the same. That they’re doing it at unprecedented scale is a stronger version of the same point. Anthropic has penetrated about 1% of the enterprise market. Use cases are in their infancy. LLMs are the AOL of the AI age. We haven’t even gotten robotics and healthcare and everything else. The hyperscalers are only starting to show the analysts how slavishly emotional they are. The economists pointing to history books have never been right. They were the same group claiming we’d hit a new all time high plateau in 1999. History never repeats and rhymes only when you tilt your head and squint. In reality, reality is a complex adaptive system that requires constant analysis and logical assessment. There are no shortcuts, and you should never trust the hacks who use them. $AMZN $GOOGL

    AOL never asked me for more storage and I have emails for over 20 years….. why Gmail gotta do me like that 😫

    @LitterboxComics I was a new dad trying to research way to help my wife. Been trolling the depths of the internet for fun since AOL was a thing. I was not prepared for the deprivation and inhumanity I found in online parenting forums.

    On the day Michael Jackson died in 2009, the internet collapsed. The LA Times, AOL, TMZ, AIM, and several other major sites completely crashed. Searches for the King of Pop spiked to an insane ~4.2 million per minute. Google believed it was under some kind of cyber attack because of the sudden flood of people searching “Michael Jackson”. Twitter went down and Wikipedia crashed around 3:15 p.m. PDT.

    My dad replied to news about my girlfriend with a green check mark. Honestly, appropriate. Our generation only writes well over text because we had to get good at it to date. AOL Instant Messenger, then years of practice with the stakes turned all the way up. His generation never needed the skill, so they never built it. The thumbs up isn't him being short with you. It's the whole sentence.
