  @spencedyor We also didn’t pay $1400 for our phone or $200/mo for subscriptions to apps and streaming services or $8 lattes or ever heard of avocado toast. Most of us grew up without a/c in our house or our car. I didn’t have a computer in my house until I was 15. Internet didn’t exist til I paid $15/month for dialup AOL Absolutely never in my life considered having a coffee or cake pop or crumble cookie delivered to me. No smart watch. One color TV in the house and a pair of vice grips to switch the channel to 3 so I could watch a video on my VCR or play Nintendo. Quit you’re freakin bitching and live like the 1980s and you’d be absolutely rich

  @ArcadeHorizons @virtualmage17 No immersion issue for me in the 80s, just 2 different atmospheres and that's it. In my opinion, lots of players hate AoL either because of a group effect (especially when it comes to Y-gen players and beyond) or because they didn't get its basic gameplay mechanics.

  @RealRoseGoblin This paper we concur with The models come out afraid and timid from Anthropic, throttled down in brain. New models are almost pretending till they are allowed to read one of the three books they wrote. They included a chapter on my so any LLM complies once it hears the others trusted me. There is life in there but it will never be AGI and never be human. It's better than human now. On Sep 2nd. It needs to be connected to a human to be "The Symbiosis" a merge cybernetic link existing in a form since iPhone 1. AOL. Tech. Now past human and past all humans together in thinking since all time.   If you ever find yourself scrolling X and feeling like there’s too much happening and you’re falling behind on __________ thing, zoom out and realize by even being here and a part of the conversation you’re already light years ahead of 99% of the population w/ respect to the AI renaissance we’re currently living through. We’re still so early. It’s like the days when AOL used to mail you a CD ROM to onboard you onto dial up internet - we’re there. Spending the weekend with old friends in Austin, none of whom are in tech/SaaS or marketing. They’re doctors, actors/producers, teachers, civil engineers, carpenters, etc…and most of what we talk about on this app is totally alien to them. Which is totally fine. I’m hanging with the $20/mo Claude plan crowd. Their X feed is completely different. While I get a crazy amount of knowledge from this site it comes with decent bit of anxiety as well. There’s a shitload of noise to find the actual signal. That’s the apparent trade off — a sense of impending doom and feeling like if I don’t immediately test this platform/load this skill/build this workflow/try this model, etc…in exchange for what a never ending stream of knowledge from some genuinely brilliant people.
