Lately it has become exceptionally clear that an influential number of folks wish to functionally push things back into something like the Television by foreclosing all other info options. The WWW is too chaotic and bad, so all must return to AOL, to use a historic metaphor.

i mean, even the first iphone predated *data plans* this was back in 07 when getting on the internet on your phone was the same as getting on AOL, it took forever to download anything and you were literally paying by the megabyte, so most people just never used that service

@bon_oui_ @SuperSlickGlick I definitely am… but I guess main point is - maybe two decisions I would change at VZ - - not go into media (starting with AOL in 2015) - double down on cloud (buy more after terremark in 2011 and not sell in 2016)

Hey @instagram I can probably dig up an AOL free trial CD, so you can figure out how to keep your platform working. Literally the worst. #InstagramDown

@SuperSlickGlick (2/2) Terremark had data centers + cloud Problem is they muddied the wars with AOL deal in 2015 which spread their expansion strategy way too thin They divested Terremark in late 2016 But even 2016 was early innings for cloud and they could have still increased market share
