  In June 2000 a room of shareholders raised their hands and approved the worst deal in corporate history. The price tag was $120,000,000,000. Steve Case knew what his paper was worth. Gerald Levin took it anyway. Watch the men on the steps afterwards. Nobody is arguing. Nobody in that footage looks like they just lost anything. Two years later the combined company wrote down about $99,000,000,000 in a single year. That number is larger than the annual output of most countries. By 2009 the two halves were separated again, and the pieces were worth a fraction of what they carried in. Every analyst covering the deal called it visionary. The vote took minutes. The unwind took nine years.

  How much longer are we going to allow AOL to hold the "Power of the Purse?" Not to mention maintaining a say on American/ Foreign Relations, Ammendments to Federal Laws and the making of both Public and Administrative policys? It's just plain stupid. Bucket loads of Dumb **** .... That's what's it is. And she's dumping it all over US.....AH?

  @boomer_btc @CitadelDaniel I had a joke that Primal was the AOL of Nostr but looking back it didn’t cause the network effect that AOL did. Both were UX quantum leaps -the internet was ready for it. Nostr not so much.

  Something about $BSP: they bought AOL at a 5x income before tax, which is optically cheap right? The small issue is that they bought it from Apollo and imho there's zero chance Apollo got a bad deal

  @LiveLawIndia SC made an Himalayan effort to ensure 'Art of living' (AOL) is bailed out brushing aside concerns of environmental groups. SC says river Bank was already damaged in part. If that be so would 'AOL' have any business to damage it further. If AOL knew the damage,why use the site?

  Had our yearly apartment inspection. 2 Guys comes in does their thing. Looks at my monitor, "Damn dude, that thing is old, you run AOL on it?" Other guy, "you even old enough to remember AOL?" YG, "Yeah, I was born in 1997." Me: "Dude, that monitor is as old as you are!"
