    @Jooonaathhann @SawyerMerritt @Starlink Well sure. Go ahead and make your point - I suppose there is one to be made. That said, what other CURRENTLY in service airborne WIFI in Starlinks "class" is operational? If you polled people and said you can have the current gruel of a WIFI product and a notional "Amazon" product in 5-10 years or a actually operational fast one now what would they say? I know what at least 60% (educated guess) would prefer. BETTER/NOW is the answer Oh- and where would you prefer to have that conversation? On a old school party line? AOL? Reddit? X IS the town square whether you like it or not - or until Bezos has a better one.

    @corey_lineberry @25YearsAgoLive That does sound pretty cool concept. But I don’t know if the Internet could even support something like that. I mean it’s mostly for like emails and browsing AOL, right?

    AOL was the first time I realized that a business could systematically exploit human weakness and make money by misleading customers. At the time, I was still a student. Out of curiosity, I subscribed to AOL. In reality, I already had access to the internet through a PPP modem, so I didn’t need AOL at all. But they offered a “first month free” promotion, and during registration, I had to provide my bank account details. I completely forgot about it. I never used the service, since I continued using my own internet connection. A few months later, I accidentally discovered that I had been charged $9.95 every month. As a student, that was not a trivial amount. I contacted AOL customer service. They didn’t argue or explain — they immediately terminated the service. Which, to me, showed they knew exactly what they were doing — and that this was not an isolated case.

    @IndexAndForget I entered college when dial up AOL was still a household stable but the dorm had T1 over Ethernet. People were downloading songs in 30 seconds and sharing on the internal network. I knew the end of AOL was near. Other similar tech companies on the timeline recently. $AUR $JOBY

    @SawyerMerritt @Starlink Let's be honest - geo sync satellites are obsolete for mass users. Poor reception, low data rates, weather down times, high prices, caps on usage are all "features" of a Geo bird. Starlink is closer to fiber while Hughesnet was like a 9600 baud modem doing AOL form 1990.

    @anonchain @cryptopunks “Collectibles will be valued for when they were created, not just what they look like.” IMO, that really applies more in the physical world — like first edition Pokémon cards or a Babe Ruth rookie card. We don’t exactly value AOL 1.0 software the same way, right? That said, I 100% agree $uPeg has something novel and innovative for this cycle, and I think it’ll do well long term regardless. But if the team wants to lean heavily into “on-chain provenance,” they should look at Ordinals. I was there from day one, and people got absolutely rekt chasing sub-100 inscriptions 🤡 and over time, inscriptions didn’t matter. My whole point is: lean into everything. Don’t alienate or cut off a feature that many collectors genuinely find value in. There was never a need to completely remove visual rarity when it wasn’t hurting anything. May be except their egos.
