Sebastien Arbogast (he/him/his) (@sarbogast) reportedWe all agree: the idea of Facebook as the main steward of the Metaverse is awful. But protesting it is not gonna prevent it. What we need is a better open alternative, what Netscape was to AOL and MSN back in the day. We need an open metaverse, we need a metaverse W3C

Tantchen Jay (@TantchenJ) reported@pen_is_mighty I was an "AOL Scout" back then, and I can see the signs. There is too much they DON'T do and to much they DO. It is becoming too obvious that they don't give a flip about users, they ban for every whim and often false and the "oversight board" is doing ****. They're doomed.

Blazed-UP-Benge (@BengesBlazed) reported@SnoopDogg Is it just me or is investing in $DOGE and $SHIB the same as trying to buy AOL stock because "they provide great internet service" in 2021. Those 2 tokens are legit like Betamax to the HDR streaming we have today.

N (@NSBPainting) reportedJfc, restaurants, wtf are you still doing, posting your menus as pdfs? Is this still 2003? Are we still using up aol minutes? Your menu design isn't that goddamn precious. #restaurants #pdf #wtf

Greg Baldwin (@wyld_stallyn) reportedSecond glaring issue with Fear Street: 1994 is that no kid in 1994 who was in an AOL chat room was typing with perfect punctuation and grammar

Mary (@Mary07148829) reported@ritro01 @AOLSupportHelp I had similar issues contacting support service but nothing changed until my cousin recommended me to mic_tech025 on Instagram the dude is good.

O. P. Lovelorn (@OPLOVELORN) reported@Rengle820 I suspect that @meta wants to be the portal to basically everything, like AOL was in its early days. I think that's a bad thing, given FB's exploitive business model. I'd be OK with Google as the search engine. Search is of course a fundamental, critical function.

Potu$ Capper (@POTUSCapper) reported@FlyerTom23 It takes me 5 minutes to figure out how to get to Youtube. Then 2 minutes ******* with the sound. Then AOL is kinda slow. By the time I watch horses race without turning and get sissy whipped by a 150lb jockey I’m already 7 min+ into it.

everlovinaddie (@AddieShepherd19) reported@nytimes Meta is a commonly used term for people in tech. Licensing it would be akin to AOL licensing the name "internet" as a holding company. Should never have been allowed.

Tantchen Jay (@TantchenJ) reported@pen_is_mighty off the world? AOL was bad back then, but this is worse. But by the looks of it, Facebook is going the same way AOL went.
