  • brokenbottleboy Mic Wright 🏳️‍🌈🏴‍☠️ (@brokenbottleboy) reported from Poplar, England

When it first arrived — and I made a blog there within the first two months of its public existence — @tumblr was the near perfect blogging platform. Then AOL destroyed it. Now it’s a horrible jail where I can’t get rid of this dumb screen. Thanks @automatic.

  • Mark_BeerArt Mark Newman (@Mark_BeerArt) reported from Epsom and Ewell District, England

@liampowersjr @NorthmanTrader @Tesla Fully agree by the way, Tesla is strange, but I think some of this isn't just cars but their battery technology....never understood it myself. Never understood AOL time Warner, even wrote a paper on it for my MBA and got the lowest mark out of all my papers.

  • JosaKeyes Josa Keyes (@JosaKeyes) reported from Ealing, England

@Miss_Snuffy Self pity finds many friends online from the earliest days of community forums up to today's toxic social media. "Share your support" we used to say at AOL and people did and lots was valuable, but a deep streak of 'alternative truth' bedded down there too to solicit attention.

  • Tullocarm Tullocarm (@Tullocarm) reported from Lambeth, England

So frustrating @SkyHelpTeam. I'm cancelling my direct debit. Screw your 'service'. I'd rather bring back AOL dial-up 😤

  • chrisromerlee Chris Romer-Lee (@chrisromerlee) reported from Lambeth, England

@aolmail A family member has received the most appalling customer service from #aol. Utterly shocking. All she wants to do is reset the password as she’s been locked out & the response was effectively, go away and set up another account. She has replied, but I’m not happy.

  • OrrinEdenfield Orrin Edenfield, an 🇺🇸 living in 🇬🇧 (@OrrinEdenfield) reported from Eltham, England

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • TheRealHoarse The Hoarse Whisperer (@TheRealHoarse) reported

@joshtpm It is a triumvirate of stupid. That insipid Sacks dude is just dumb as a goddamned stump… and Calacanis hasn’t had an interesting thought since people got internet access from AOL.

  • Delaney_BK Delaney 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ (@Delaney_BK) reported

@michellexotter @staxdeadempress No social media is too big to fail. Need I remind everyone of AOL!?

  • joshmccormack Josh McCormack (@joshmccormack) reported

@VincentOrleck That is a really bad idea. It’s not AOL and it’s not a journal.

  • GRAVITYTENT_ GRAVITYTENT (@GRAVITYTENT_) reported

I lied on AOL because **** you and your stupid A/S/L question ********. I thought I was about to have a conversation but always this A/S/L and I tired of saying the same thing so I lied and said I was 15, 18, 21 idk just to see if it made any difference in lack of conversation

  • MBBarber916 Elon Musk SUCKS (parody) (@MBBarber916) reported

and it felt necessary at the time because of the restrictions with technology. Then protocols were created so different servers could talk with each other for email, and over time the free email services combined with broadband ISPs killed AOL's dial-up-and-email service. (3/13)

  • caseycdavis caseycdavis (@caseycdavis) reported

@sinmck @yoyoel @kathygriffin It's like elementary school. Elon surrounds himself with lackeys and bros that tell him how he is a once in a generation thinker. So Elon gets confused and upset if AOL, Kathy Griffin ... don't appropriately bow down. So he basically pulls their hair and storms off 😡😡

  • MBBarber916 Elon Musk SUCKS (parody) (@MBBarber916) reported

Thoughts on the destruction of Twitter. (I posted this on a friend's feed, but repeating here. Thoughts as a former failed dot-commer and digital communications observer) Here's what I see: this parallels the email-service migration from AOL to independent providers (1/13)

  • MNeko MNeko (@MNeko) reported

@Shake_Well Wow, that's remarkably stupid. What blog or social media network requires money from you? I can't think of too many, because the internet just doesn't work that way. Paywalled communities went out with AOL.

  • scottleon66 Scott Leon (@scottleon66) reported

@DylanByers @PuckNews Hey Dylan: when current employees say “it’s never been worse here” I’m assuming none of them worked there in 2000/2001 during the calamitous AOL /Walter Isakkson/Bob Pittman / Garth Ancier massive layoff 100 million dollar cuts years? A little history and perspective please.

  • wanyinbot Jiang Cheng (@wanyinbot) reported

Jin Ling. Come help me guess Wei Wuxian's AOL password
