@BC_Trevor Sometimes a business has to adapt or fail. Take AOL back in the days for an example. Even though they were leading the space at the time with plenty of money to play with, they still failed. The world was heading towards high speed internet and they stayed with 56K dial-up.

  • ummIamMike micheal (@ummIamMike) reported

@UberFacts The ever SO irritating Dial-up... and getting an AOL. Com disc in the mail and going to hang out in chat rooms. The worst part of this whole thing though would have to be getting disconnected by a gosh dammit phone call and having to start all over again! The old days were brutal

  • bibulb Bibulb (@bibulb) reported

@ctdnoah @Foone I never got a retail copy of System 7 myself - I downloaded each disk image over SEVERAL nights from AOL.

  • Glimmerixel1 Glimmerixel (@Glimmerixel1) reported

@ohyeahhii @JoeTyner5 @svershbow How was home internet scarce in the 90s? AOL was practically throwing those discs at people and if you had a landline, you were mostly good-to-go. Anyone who already had a computer wouldn't have a problem obtaining/plugging in a modem.

$GME I want to support but I wish the underlying stock wasn't basically Blockbuster or AOL. 🆕

@AOLSupportHelp when I try to login it says my email address is not recognised ?

  • nosewizard DeeBurns (@nosewizard) reported

@svershbow My four were born between 1990 and 1994 and you’re right, they had some tech but it was dial up aol, limited minutes, my space, limited service etc, I know how lucky they and us were

  • A__POX 𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘰 (@A__POX) reported

Maaaan what is this aol **** meee bro

  • KayinNasaki Kayin (@KayinNasaki) reported

@JoshJers Damn, got me beat! but yeah some of the first people I met online through like stupid AOL roleplay?? still know them and even still playing street fighter weekly with one.

@annalindwasser @MartyMoss3 @svershbow 1982 was an awkward year to be born, like a generation hybrid. My mom would ground me from the computer and then need help using the computer so I’d convince her that I couldn’t help unless she ungrounded me. I’m old enough to remember and have used AOL chatrooms.
