@wvEsquiress 1. Never had AOL. Went from Prodigy to a local ISP with an email address. As they said “take the training wheels off the internet”.

@scib0rg Millennial w/ Gen X siblings checking in: 1. We were poor in a rural area. We did not get internet until after AOL was basically done. It was still dial up.

@redneckgeisha Same-ish. BBSs -> Q-Link (Commodore-only online service) -> tried out all the commerical online services (Prodigy, AOL, Compuserve, GEnie, etc.) -> teh interwebz

@redneckgeisha 2. Had netzero & yahoo instead of aol, & went to library for encyclopedia (we was poor).

@QcNodding All of 2 points here, never on AoL & encyclopaedias were way too expensive to own, that's what libraries were for.
