@Poor_Bastard @BobDigi69 @ColdBloodedJoke Time Warner's biggest problem before the AT&T acquisition was that it was a collection of fiefdoms (Warner Bros, Turner, and HBO) that didn't collaborate with one another. It's why they had no problem offloading Time Inc., AOL, and Time Warner Cable.

The movie "You've Got Mail" came out when AOL was still hot. In "Hot Tub Time Machine", one guy made his future self rich by telling him to buy Yahoo. Distant future "Blade Runner" shows a skyscraper with the Atari logo on top. Inserting popular tech in movies never works out.

With AT&T spinning off Warner and Verizon dumping AOL and Yahoo, I think I see a path to revive the DuMont Network ... Or Radio Shack.

@tracyalloway I agree with your 4 words "there's nothing stopping Bitcoin" It is a open source, decentralized, exponential technology. AOL didn't change and grow so it failed. Bitcoin will NOT change, so it will succeed! You are choosing poor analogies.

@tracyalloway @jebus911 Lol, AOL was superseded by the internet protocol, which came before AOL so it was not newer or slicker. BTC is an open internet protocol, not a product. Understand this and will understand why a product will never replace bitcoin, the internet protocol.

@RedheadXilamGuy @Benimated It was mostly the Online Bubble that caused AOL to start tanking, combined with the merger's debt and the biggest issue of all: Culture Clashing.

Verizon should have never bought Yahoo and AOL, but it's good to see them shed those and refocus. AT&T should have never bought Tim Warner, but it's good to see them soon both that and DTV off. T-Mobilr should have never bought Layer3 TV. Etc.

@ykoi17921727 @BitcoinIsSaving @tracyalloway Pretty sure your metaphor for blockchain is wrong. AOL was a web service built on top of the protocol.

time for everyone to fixate on whether aol is the same thing as a decentralized network (it’s not and that’s okay for the purpose of the analogy)
