I'm trying to think of another hostile takeover that played out so openly - all I can think of is the AOL Time Warner incident but that was literally 22 years ago.

@alexSoKrispy @jpeggler no clue, just googled it... was shocked. "There are still 1.5 million people paying a monthly subscription service fee for AOL — but instead of dial-up access, these subscribers get technical support and identity theft software."

@RBReich So I’m internetting right now? Twittering is now the interverse. If I knew that, I could sell my AOL disks from the 90s for a mint today. Free Twitter!!!! Oh or maybe StarLink…maybe that is what this is about. He who controls StarLink controls that Internet….service provider.

CW: d***name I did successfully place another order after deadnaming myself 3-4 times on forms but I can’t even put my true, legal name on shipping address so *AOL noise* you’ve got dead mail! Far from the worst thing happening to trans folks but still, this *should* be easier
