@kanenfodder This is why in that one LG our video years ago people were still using AOL chat rooms. Which don’t exist now, but people will find somewhere to chat no matter how many places you can shut down.

@Humanstein AOL's Blackberry Creek for kids RPG message boards around '97 or '98 until they shut down. Went by Sapphire. Unrepentant nerd.

@digichud 14.4k here. I can remember writing code for AOL punters and sneaking netbus on network computers so we could pretend to be hackers.

@parlertakes Damn. Can't Netscape help? Or AOL? MySpace?

  • SerivaTiger Seriva Tigertail (@SerivaTiger) reported

@ariellec @soapachu @itxaropena I first saw news about 9/11 when I woke up and turned on AOL(The service, not the messenger). I didn't get how big a deal it was until I went to my high school and nothing happened for the rest of the day except everyone glued to the TV.

  • Jfthead John Frank Truby, Jr (@Jfthead) reported

@RyanAFournier Parler is having technical issues due to the overwhelming number of folks joining up. It’s just like AOL when you used a phone line.
