AllThingsVentured (@AllVentured) reportedWhen Netscape was acquired by AOL in 1998 for $4.2B they were still unprofitable but had >50% revenue growth and dominant market share with revenue projected to grow at a 44% CAGR and surpass $1B in just a few years. Sound familiar? You wont guess what happened next: $MSFT bundled Internet Explorer with Windows for free and took 80% of the share overnight. If you don't know how to apply this historical analogue to today I cant help you.

Jason Bateman (@JasonBa74467518) reported@RealJamesWoods So true, but I’ll tell you they’ve got me. I’m a hook, line, and sinker Apple guy. Why easy their product was amazing from the start, and on top of that they kept the architecture and framework the same similar to AOL! I’m waiting for the next Apple like most of us until then. Yeah I don’t want android it sucks. There’s too many variations. Apple is Apple. Let’s go Tesla phone! Or the next brilliant mind let’s get it done; we’re already!!

Val Duke (@ValDjuk) reported@AzzaliahC @ICQ Xfire and Skype both opened in 2003, June 2015 and May 2025 accordingly shut down. Where were you then? Or even Google Chat (2005- June 2017). If you cared about actual quality, you would have used AIM since at least 2010 (AOL literally bought ICQ in 1998, same owner!) or use IRC
