  Oh... Just in case it hasn't sunk in yet AI being able to code as well as it does means that software as a product or service is DEAD AS A DOOR-NAIL It will probably stop twitching in about 4-5 years for most people, but expect some companies to hold on by charging subscription services until 25 years after they have become irreverent...   @FilipPanoski Solve your own problem if the best strategy. If that doesn't work then copy the competition. You don't need to reinvent the wheel. Friendster > MySpace > Facebook AOL Mail > Hotmail > Gmail Hotbot > Infoseek > Yahoo > Google

  I was a senior in highschool and was talking to a girl a year younger than me. One time she spent the night and I turned my computer on and hacked the company her dad owned. I found her dad's signature in the payroll files and pointed it out to her. You could tell she was uneasy about it but fascinated at the same time. By the time I graduated I had received three letters from AOL asking me not to hack their ****.

  @brockpierson That modem is too new. It doesn't have any microphones. Go back to the source with an acoustic coupler modem. Of course, you're going to have a little trouble getting a working telephone handset and analog phone line. At least the AoL CDs will be easy to find.

  @brockpierson If you had AOL or CompuServe, you had to connect with a modem. At some point PCs shipped with integrated modems, but yes, I rocked one of those bad boys as well.

  when i first worked for a big co (TC was part of AOL at the time, IIRC) I spilled a drink on my laptop and bricked it really thought i was going to get fired (I was young) and was blown away when the co was like well ****, is a new one by tomorrow fast enough?

  @theikigaiguy @amazon Yep, same thing day after day. And history will repeat. A company thinks it’s infallible, but lose one customer here another there. And it adds up. Before long they become Sears, Kmart and AOL. IMO; They will end up splitting shopping and prime off eventually.

  AOL never asked me for more storage and I have emails for over 20 years….. why Gmail gotta do me like that 😫
