    On a fateful spring day, King Charles of Naples fired up his Packard Bell, and tried to log into AOL. However, the signal was busy. He tried another line, then another, with no luck. Everyone in the kingdom was online that day, it seemed. The only line left was through Palermo.

    @0xHyperbart It's forgotten that before AOL and Google very few people used the internet and it had a really bad reputation of scammers and hackers. This changed over time with more users more webpages etc.
