@joncoopertweets No "we" do not need to either. I never thought anything would replace the WildcatBBS! style of social networking. AOL. MySpace. Facebook. These systems come and go, convincing people they are irreplaceable is just a trick.

I'm trying to think of another hostile takeover that played out so openly - all I can think of is the AOL Time Warner incident but that was literally 22 years ago.

  • jhartley61 Jack Hartley (@jhartley61) reported

@AOL please fix your algorithms for spam. Ever since you went web-based I’m getting twice as much spam in my mail. By the way it was really stinko that you went web-based

  • oscarwinnerem emily 🤗 (@oscarwinnerem) reported

coworker who is 16 just asked for a customer’s email address and didn’t recognize the domain aol I need to get out of here

@John_Hempton @Torquat28352878 Musing on when AOL managed to monetize a crap business by getting bot by Time Warner. Here it would be Musk "simply" selling a bit of $TSLA to pay for $TWTR. Nothing for anyone to be concerned about....

  • BTramm B Tramm™ (@BTramm) reported

@elonmusk needs to buy aol instant messenger (AIM) and bring that **** back instead

  • hawkstalkers Resident Lightsaber Technician (@hawkstalkers) reported

@jmitchell2002 Ouch!!! I had these conversations with my parents but it was for going over the balance on AOL hours (before they went to the unlimited model). They were NEVER happy if I made us bust our hours… 😬

  • MikeBerridge Mike Berridge, 💙#FBPA #Peace and Justice, #FBNH (@MikeBerridge) reported

@MindfulDamage @SarahAndCo3 That was the problem AOL had, well without the 's'

  • AmericanWitch7 American Witch (@AmericanWitch7) reported

@AssusReamus No but then I think I may be the only person of my generation that never used AOL

  • artbyailbhe Ailbhe Leamy (@artbyailbhe) reported

@GrowlyCub I think so, I did use it very very briefly but it never took off in my circles. I think I had a client that did AOL IM, Yahoo IM, and ICQ.
