It was a finance startup, run as one of Steve Case's companies, as in, AOL Steve Case. We even came up with a plan to distribute basically gift cards on cereal boxes just like AOL CDs because it was a lower customer acquisition cost. Anyway...

@biologistimo you can also hang CDs or something else reflective in a nearby tree - it tends to spook them away (but might also spook native birds too 🙁) growing up we used AOL cds they sent in the mail ALL THE TIME and now I've dated myself

@Balance510 Reminds me of AOL, which was the King of Email back in the day: they had their "walled garden" to keep you inside the AOL Internet eco-system. Same with Peloton: they want you to pay for the classes. But not everybody wants to do a class workout every. damn. time.

This is why I'll always defend having an AOL email still. Just randomly found a poetry acceptance I am so excited about it in my "promotions" tab in my stupid gmail account and I am so glad I randomly saw it or I'd have no idea. Hooray for an acceptance.
