@padraig2112 @the_shoe_yes Yeah, I was at AOL during the heyday and the whole-*** multiple site redundacy thing. The first part of the cost-cutting before the collapse there was scaling that back down. Sigh.

@BenAxelrod @Nike This was an all time screw job by @Nike, one of the worst releases ever. Servers held together by bubble gum and old AOL floppy disks.

@SusanSmythSL Hubris. Imagine a dictator invading a neighbouring country without conducting extensive research over the success of it? Time-Warner bought AOL for $65 billion & a year later posted a write down in value of $99 billion. I imagine they thought they knew what they were doing too.

@GoBluePoole They are horrible. I thought Clemson was the worst fan base on Twitter but now I don’t know. We were all on AOL dial up the last time they were good is the funny thing.

@toxibruh Do you remember AOL? MySpace? AltaVista? Blockbuster? Compaq? Netscape? Fidonet? Will Twitter go down? Don't assume it couldn't. Depends what management does and what other technologies are on the horizon that might change the way we communicate in the future.

@ReinH When I was a teen I beta tested for AOL rolling out internet service here. Paid in free internet, not money. Then they decided not to give that internet access anymore. I continued getting my access for the promised time through the unpatched bug I'd reported.

@sebawita When it all shuts down maybe I should! Maybe I can distribute it on AOL or something.

@PunkinPupuccino If I recall correctly, it always had a number code, you could change your name and all that. They fail to adapt to the mobile era and were eventually bought by AOL and you know the AOL story already.
