@MMortemm There was always a free trial AOL disk at the checkout back around late '90s. Did a bunch of 1,000 free trials. "Cancel anytime." (Very kind of them.) I loved that gargle-y sound when you connected with dial up.

@googlefi Seriously, worst support I've ever received. Making Comcast and AOL look good. If you have more than one line, stay away from Fi, it's *not safe*.

@MMortemm LOL Until three years ago AOL dial up was the only internet (besides satellite) available at a rural house I own. Slow, slow downloading. Forget about uploading. About the only thing you could do was send and receive email. Now pay $125 a mo for working internet.

@MMortemm Had free AOL for years, every time we called to cancel they would ask if we wanted more free months. Yes! Dial up until we couldn’t take it anymore and my mama needed her phone line back.
