@CarlBMenger Sad move coming from a guy who got into bitcoin in the low 300 range. Btc is just old and slow also a massive honeypot testnet. It’s essentially like Netscape or aol chat rooms. Times have changed we’ve pivoted & if they didn’t pivot they hedged into #XRP secretly out of fear

  • FranDun1 Fran Dunn (@FranDun1) reported

Are you paying for @aol? I never did before. Guess I can live without it!!!!

@sunnya97 let’s address the most obvious flaw in this terrible analogy Neither Google nor Amazon ate the lunch of AOL. Other ISPs did Guess what? The global ISP market size by revenue in ‘22 is ~3x larger than Google & AMZ combined So, uh, where is the value accruing? Terrible analogy

@aolmail a couple of weeks ago my email address was hacked and I have changed my password. Since then I am only receiving emails from 3 email addresses. All others are not being received, I have sent myself several test messages that have not come through. How can I fix this

@Penny_Underbust AOL was the ****. Especially the fantasy chat character chat rooms.

@oknolisten yeah no issue criticising fanfic or talking about fandom critically but “if the big man tops the smaller man is that not heteronormativity” is a take I’ve seen constantly since I first logged on to AOL and I’m tired of pretending it’s deep or interesting and refuse not to mock it

@MoffattLawrence @vitaliyk I didn't really see AOL for example going down just losing its position. Amazing that they never leveraged the Warner library.

  • yumcha108 Charlie Brown (@yumcha108) reported

@sunnya97 AOL and CompuServe did attempt to build relationships to make customers stick, and they worked for a bit... but they were coercive and lame. Google and Amazon created stickiness by delighting the customer with amazing product, that's the difference.

@sunnya97 1) AOL and Compuserve were purchased by Verizon, so are telco service networks (last mile and cell) comparable to L1 chains? Should we consider Verizon as a L0 which crypto L1 riding on? Without telcos those L1’s blockchains can’t interconnect miners and validators….
