@NHPatsHomer Turner selling AOL was the deathblow, but not pushing new homegrown stars or shuffling the main event scene was the major part of it creatively. The same guys in the same NWO story being on top from 97 through 99 was a big part of the issue, as was neutering Sting/Goldberg/etc.

@i_am_psk @Variety Separately? I doubt it. AOL and AT&T were bad marriages for Time Warner/Media, but they were both so different that they didn’t blend into a **** purée and the TW assets could still be extracted relatively unscathed. Discovery is too similar. It will blend and it will taste awful

@wincenworks @BrainClouds I learned that joke from book title: "There Must Be a Pony in Here Somewhere: The AOL Time Warner Debacle and the Quest for a Digital Future" Old media + new media = "it'll go TO THE MOON" LaNasa + Ernie = "it'll go TO THE MOON" They can't smell the horse ****. So they dig.
