@ScooterComputer @scottrudy Maybe you were also thinking of: way back when the Messages app on Mac was called “iChat,” it was envisioned to be interoperable with many messaging platforms. Only a couple besides Apple’s iMessage bought in (AOL and I think Jabber?), so this vision never got off the ground.

@LeonHutton @azoneofonesown it wasn't "nationalising broadband" it was offering a barebones free alternative. so when your bt/sky/virgin fibre goes down for a bit (and it will) everyone has a backup. sort of like the AOL free trial CD's of yore.

  • fandsf The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction (@fandsf) reported

Many subscribers still haven't received their Jan/Feb F&SF. We're trying to figure out why. If you HAVE received yours, could you please take a photo of the front cover and email it to us at FandSF -at - aol -dot- com? That will give us info we need to solve the problem. Thanks!

@jack_upgraded @nomadcapitalist The proof of work system that bitcoin mining uses to get bitcoin out of the system is horse and buggy technology. It also leaves a massive carbon footprint and is terrible for the planet. Preaching only bitcoin is like preaching only AOL or Napster in the dot com era.

  • BlueRobotDesign Milquetoast (@BlueRobotDesign) reported
