the 90’s was pretty much just getting in trouble for watching mildly edgy cartoons while having unfettered access to AOL chat rooms

  • roninjanitor Nick Lozano (@roninjanitor) reported

Watching the season finale of @Stranger_Things was like watching someone trying to cancel AOL dial up in the 90s. It’s a viscous cycle of trying to get out but getting sucked back in.

  • tomhewittnews Tom Hewitt (@tomhewittnews) reported

@alaskarobotics @TristaCrass BRB gonna write a think piece about how if AOL hadn’t sucked so hard, democracy would be a lot less broken right now

@Mr_Boxmeister Nah that will never take off, I don’t think AOL is getting replaced anytime soon

@KimEGoldman @Flash_inthe_Dan Any parent who's still saying "my kid could never" has already lost the plot, we have to talk about radicalization to prevent more of it. With encouragement from the wrong people in AOL chat, it totally could've been me in HS, radicalization is a true & present danger for ALL

@BMeiselas Proton mail? Is AOL down?

Jin Ling. Come help me guess Wei Wuxian's AOL password

  • CharlieRambles Charlie (@CharlieRambles) reported

Misleading account link, hidden phone numbers and aggressive sales operators, @amazon's @audible_com division is starting to feel a lot like it took lessons from the old @AOL "too hard to cancel" retention practices. Sad really. #DoBetter
