I think I may have been into Billy Strings if he had just called himself William Apostol. I never took him seriously when he went out there with an AOL instant messenger screen name. “First name + thing I like”

  • JudeAtwood Jude Atwood (@JudeAtwood) reported

Every college department has one professor who never checks their work email and will only respond if you contact the AOL email address they've had since 1998.

  • _egg666 (m)egg (@_egg666) reported

Got logged out of Spotify and apparently my account is associated with my AIM email (?!) which I obviously don’t know the password for, and I can’t even reset it bc AOL straight up doesn’t exist anymore, so wtf 😭

  • adamnash Adam Nash (@adamnash) reported

@justindross … not quite that simple. Gmail was an entrant way after the market was largely locked by AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail (Microsoft). Google could enter b/c they funded it from core and they innovated on rich web UI as broadband grew. The problem really was business model…

  • PeklaxTheGreat Chubthulu🌺 (@PeklaxTheGreat) reported

The only thoughts I have anymore are windows 2000 shutting down noise, and AOL dial-up sounds

  • DaveId Dave Id (@DaveId) reported

How many older folks are getting ripped off like this? And AOL acts like it's sad they canceled the email account, using language that seems geared toward senior citizens: "Aw shucks. Your subscription has been canceled." Aw, shucks?!? **** you.

  • ScotPFV Scot Valentine (@ScotPFV) reported

Between 1995 to 1999 I got an AOL start up disc in the mail at least once a week without fail. Do not tell me we lack the ability to do this with testing kits. The ability to do so is without question. The will to do so is...sadly questionable.

  • Hillarybloze Rob Czecho (@Hillarybloze) reported

@AOLSupportHelp Why am I being told 10 times a day that there was suspicious activity on my account and the aholes at aol have to send me another freakin code on my other aol account???Every freakin day...10 times a day! And why is my first page on aol always in spanish?? WTF!

  • detectingharm Rafe McGregor (@detectingharm) reported

“Solving the Final Problem” was submitted so long ago that I was still using an AOL address (8 years?) and accepted this autumn. Sadly, not an essay about the links between #ConanDoyle and #genocide, which I leave for someone else.

  • DanOCan Dan Overes (@DanOCan) reported

@Crackmacs I'm OK with Hotmail addresses (I still have mine but never use it) but I *will* judge you for using an AOL address -- with apologies to my in-laws who still do so.
