@AriDavidPaul Yes, & making Crypto into email-quality ubiquity is a ways off. Iterations (Arpanet->compuserve/mciMail->AOL/Prodigy->yahoo/hotmail->Gmail) drove incremental improvements, took >5 years, even w/ more people focused on more acute problems before grandma-ready

But in #TheBachelorette world, can we all agree this is NOT the best way to find love? I mean really. This Claire lady dumps on all her dudes but 1 because "he's the one" and they are already broken up? I had better luck in AOL chatrooms.... #TrueStory

@dingaifei Mamsh he is so goodhere. I can really see the difference between AOL and here. The expressions the way I can feel that he is that character. Really soo good like he has been good in AOL already but here he got soooo much even better. Hands down and the other actors are good too!

can someone definitively tell me when the AOL Messenger era was? because I've never used it, didn't realize it was a thing, etc. I suspect because I was in the UK during its zenith. but I'm ready to hear the truth

OfficeBoundTraveler (@3wks) reported
@Texarchivist Yes. It was eventually marketed as a standalone service. Not sure if you had to pay for it. I used a steady stream of free AOL minutes provided on CD-ROMs

@Texarchivist I used IRC in college through our VAX, but had AOL while in law school since we were given network access, hence the timeframe.
