@Rklawton @theepplzchamp @JoeHolder_ Image how long it would take AOL on a Windows 98 computer, manually entering the data and then trying to a website that could translate it for you. Possible Hour down to seconds

@bodh_io Yep, dial up (AOL). Uphill, in the snow, both ways. IYKYK One of the perks of working for @NIUNorthernStar was that we had ethernet connections to the university mainframe. Fast, for those days. Sucked going home to slower than slow dial-up.

@Mendinso Yeah. The problem of late 90's Internet in South America was the blatant monopoly of @Telefonica that sincerely made impossible to widespread the 56K in the same way that AOL did in the US.

@CZEdwards Inde ... hang on. Neither of them were ever stewards of the Internet, even tho AOL had an internet. In the end, they are merely users. Let's not exaggerate their existence for the Internet.

@irishman3370 @StevieDwayne Literally this is what the aol sessions were before. She stood at a mic and just had a band. No dancing. No lighting. Like look into **** before y’all get on here and just flap your gums

@Thiiago_Slva @Kenya91832403 @netflix So true, paying Netflix is like paying AOL in the 90's for access to the internet. It's only a matter of time before the owners sell their own product and cut out the reseller.
