@BeschlossDC There’s a guy Jeremy I dated exactly once. Didn’t have work & woke up late that day, went on AOL. HIM: Are you okay? ME: Yes… is there… some reason I wouldn’t be? HIM: Oh my God turn on the tv! Don’t know his last name, haven’t seen him since, but now will never forget him.

@JerryDunleavy At work, we heard that a plane hit Tower 1, so we tried to get online but all AOL lines were busy. Walked down the street to a bar to watch TV, saw the 2nd plane hit and knew what was up. One of the guys from work found out at about noon that 2 of his friends were on one flight

@BWJones I found out because a teacher had a radio in his classroom. Social media was barely Friendster, LiveJournal, and I think AOL chatrooms were winding down.

@BeschlossDC I returned to my office after a mtg, and my computer screen was filled w/ AOL messages from my daughter, who had just started frosh year at NYU in a dorm room w/ a view of the Towers. Awakened by screams, she looked out the window. It was awful not being able to be w/ her.
