Why is he putting his focus here? There's so much interesting stuff happening in post-apartheid South Africa & he's centering his work on that tired 1995 tale of a village that (purportedly) burned a baboon at the stake for being a witch? That's early-AOL viral email ****, man

@hawloffame as ****** as it sounds, working for Comcast, Bank of America, Qwest, Verizon, AOL, and Wells Fargo were all less bad than working in the game industry because none of them ever asked me to work a weekend I had off, or more than 10 total OT hours in a year

@LoveRisaMei Everytime I have a hard time thinking, I make those sound effects you hear when the AOL is trying to connect. I've seen it in millions of meme or edited videos. I never got to experience it back then.

Writing about the early days of AOL has dredged at LOT of memories of how stupid I was in my 20's. Like spending nearly 10 grand in todays money on a compute or just how much money I spent on AOL bills. Kids today do NOT know how easy they have it being horny on the internet.

If wee phillie isn’t down the AoL for old times sake then I’ll be sad, hurt and very very disappointed. No doubt they’ll be guarding it like Area 51 this time round. #safc

4) Remain vigilant of trends AOL’s biggest failure was its failure to realise that the internet and media culture was rapidly changing. Presently trends rapidly alternate in the space of weeks. Knowing when a service has peaked is as important as knowing when it has potential

@l_bowline Its redundant because being able to do a single thing better does not make up for not being the winning protocol/network. Hence the AOL example.
