@jymmytolland @Gogo I'm sure we paid about the same as that for dial-up internet service and AOL back in the 90s, and, apparently, has the same internet capabilites as this company.

@jeffalomaniac 94 was AOL & Geocities and getting in trouble because AOL you paid to be online per minute. Then I remember in 1996 or 97 working at the local ISP and upgrading our infra to support 56K modems and then downloading stuff to Zip disks at home!

@AOLSupportHelp I keep getting forwarded spam emails from my deceased grandmothers account. Your customer service number is not allowing me to direct my phone call to anyone for support and ends the call. Please help me close my grandmother's account!

@sherkhantx @draecomino I guess at the end of the day it comes down to whether decentralization matters or not. There are definitely two camps. Just like some people liked AOL back in the day. AOL wasn't bad or anything.

Radio->TV->dial up web->AOL/yahoo->forums->FB->Insta->Snap->TikTok->web3 Ponzi schemes->something else Over a long enough timescale, media isn’t durable - just benefits from exceptionally strong network effects letting it scale quickly Sell before ppl figure it out each time

@odinswitch My sister was born in 2005! I used to be into those 'evolution of technology' videos you see online so I'm aware of all your struggles with horrid AOL connecting sounds and taking hours to download MP3 sounds or images - I duly sympathise

@AOLSupportHelp For anyone who saw this, AOL didn’t do ****. Worst customer service. They want money to reset a password. What a joke of a company. No wonder no one uses them anymore.
