@MorningBrew Perhaps VZ should be on a short-list of worst acquirers of all time. But VZ-AOL deal is by no means worst. I think AOL acquiring Time Warner in Jan 2000 takes the cake. AOL took a $99 BILLION writedown in 2002!

  • psykomantis 🏴‍☠️Psyko-M1💩 (@psykomantis) reported

@neednewshorts There was less noise on the wire. I miss the simplistic times where stupid people were corralled to AOL, and the decent/intelligent individuals were free to roam without restriction and play glorious games together.

  • crunchy0ats J. (@crunchy0ats) reported

@GreenShades9 @CNN They wanted to create an ad platform like Google. But it never happened. The interactions with AOL/Yahoo! are low quality i guess.

  • telnetport Telnetport (@telnetport) reported

Verizon, the master of bad acquisition? -They bought AOL and Yahoo for $9 billion and now they selling at $5 billion. -Verizon sold Tumblr for $3.1M in 2019 after buying it (indirectly through Yahoo! acquisition) for $1.1B in 2013 -Bought Huffpost and sold for less than 50%

  • MysteryVFXSuper Mystery VFX Super (@MysteryVFXSuper) reported

It's *almost* up there with the AOL Time Warner merger. I'd feel bad for AOL of it wasn't for the fact that they so aggressively tried to fill every landfill in the world with plastic CD-ROM discs.

  • CarolForden Public Health is the Economy (@CarolForden) reported

@WalshonMergers @AOL Or @yahoo Bigger issue is Apollo know has the cell phone numbers if millions of Americans

@disclosetv Facebook is still a thing? I thought it was doing the AOL, Geocities, and MySpace slow decline.
