@webjedi Is it bad that I still regard Steve Case as the reason we have such a mess of an Internet, all these years later? Without AOL bringing Internet access to the masses, would we really have these messes? Or is this my whole, “get off my lawn” sort of thing?

  • Equill Erin Quill (she/her) (@Equill) reported

Tonight got this weird email threatening to share a video that shows me cheating- except I have never cheated- threatened to send it to my whole contact list. From an AOL address! Says He filmed me through my laptop camera (always closed) . Do people fall for this? AOL?!?

@ginthusiastic Last week I was talking someone through tech support and I asked what browser they were using and they said "AOL" and I short circuited for a moment bc I was like "I know some people still have AOL email but that browser isn't avail anymore...is it? Are they a time traveler?!"

I randomly thought of My 6th grade AOL chat room boyfriend, Joey. I wonder what he's up to. I'm pretty sure we're still dating. We never officially broke up. Also, I wonder if he was really in 6th grade as well or if he was like 50. Or 8. I don't think I'll ever know. *sigh*

@Newdayduffy @gailkimITSME I know. I was referring to Turner Corporate not Ted Turner. Also, it wasn't sold because it went down hill. It was sold because of AOL CEO Steven Case hating Pro wrestling and wanting to stick it to Ted Turner. The same reason why he forced the sale of the Braves and Hawks too.

@Hennydickarnold At least Bischoff can wash his hands and blame the AOL merger when **** went wrong.

  • HCookAustin Harold Cook (@HCookAustin) reported

@PaulCobler did you then help him sign up for AOL?

  • FrRDMutter Richard (@FrRDMutter) reported

@SteveBurley11 @KingBobIIV I remember AOL had the same problem. They ended up calling it Sconthorpe.

  • MsToucanSami MsToucanSami (@MsToucanSami) reported

@KayEllen48 @TheMetroJEM @cmclymer My AOL accounts are more spam free than my Gmail accounts. Plus, I signed up for lots of loyalty cards in my primary AOL account many years ago, so if I get rid of the AOL account it means I have to update everything. Too lazy. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

@SpaceWitchBot I didn’t either (we never did and my mom still doesn’t) but I would trade an hour of housework with my aunt for an hour on AOL
