I'm an elder millennial. My skills include dialing a rotary phone, properly loading a floppy disk, not losing my **** when I have flashbacks of the AOL dial-up tone, and having entire conversations using only GIFs.

@MarinaDiamandis and whats AOL idk help

  • Tristanshouts (((anti-antisemite))) (@Tristanshouts) reported

As we learn about the new Colin Powell Fellowship in Leadership & Public Service at the US State Department, let us bow our heads in memory of all his State Department emails from his private AOL email address, which he refused to provide to the government after he left office.

@Sharb__ Even in the early 2000s with the AOL Time Warner merger, Betty Cohen leaving, Jim Samples taking over, Hanna-Barbera shutting down, three people dying, Kids Next Door teaching kids to disobey parents, and Chris Savino taking over two CN shows?

    * I know TimeWarner existed before the AOL merger, but it did rebrand back to TW after the merger ended where it had its own issues.

@JCPxDESIGNS @Razlo They run it? I thought it was like that AOL one they had back in the day. That sucks. How is Discovery more valuable than WB??

  • ehnyay Aunt Fetamine (@ehnyay) reported

@LouisatheLast Anonymity is so integral to this, too. If AOL and LJ had had real name policies, we never would have had the opportunity to grow as people bc we'd forever be known as that kid who thought libertarianism sounded good on paper.

  • ImDudebroGuyman Dudebro Guyman (@ImDudebroGuyman) reported

@Drej_Hart @RageGoldenEagle Yeah I tried doing that for a couple years but it was probably the worst experience for me. That's why I don't do it anymore. Lol, AOL Instant Messenger is nuts man, people used to be in like chatrooms and stuff right? That must've been pretty cool.

  • Eugene_T_Erlikh Eugene Erlikh 🇺🇦 (Odesa, Ukraine) (@Eugene_T_Erlikh) reported

@Sunscreen_cake @IOHK_Charles I was banned from AOL in like 1999 for saying ****.
