@BasicInteger My first experience with the internet was in 1997. Spring I think somewhere in there. And at the time I had a 386 with Windows 3.1 and AOL 3.0 and even then, the experience was horrible. Dad ended up buying a new machine that summer.

@PeteSkerritt Not quite. I watched my brother's first interaction in a chat room on AOL. "**** you!" to somebody saying hi. My dad was furious.

@JDSINILA Y’all have never even played for a conference championship before last season lol what are you talking about? You’ve NEVER been in this position.. Sure OSU got a BCS Champ.. and a CFBPlayoff champ.. I’d find the tweets about yalls but the internet was a baby and I don’t have AOL

@Wrestling80s90s It may not have been the final nail in the coffin but it certainly didn’t help the public perception of WCW. The AOL famously didn’t want rasslin’ on their station but this kind of stuff surely didn’t help.

@kristenkurtis Biscuit033 which was my sign in name for AOL before AIM continued with AIM and until recently was my IG handle. There was a time Biscuit was my name to ppl. Those ppl still call me that if I see them. I’m 42

@mehdirhasan I got my whole family kicked off AOL in like 95 for cursing off sysops in chat rooms, it was called a “Terms of Service” violation. Had to write a letter to get us all re-instated. They act like this **** is new.

@PurpleMidneight Before there was social media, in the days when AOL was the Internet, Bam Bam Bigelow was a semi regular customer at my job. I didn't exactly become friends on a personal level with him, but we did get along well, he knew that he'd get great service when I was there.

  • WillKneelander Kneelander (@WillKneelander) reported

@Roman_Baber @bankofcanada It is probably dial-up and they are still waiting for AOL to load it. If I know my government, and I am certain that I do, their technology sucks.

@anthonyzenkus @dude_in_lville Thinking back to being a volunteer moderator on AOL's religion discussion boards, along w/Beliefnet's boards on AOL in the late 90's, early noughts. I got my acct paid for as a thank you. I had to go thru training. If I made a mistake, a volunteer supervisor would help correct it
