  • lemurs_man 𝖘𝖜𝖆𝖓𝖌 (@lemurs_man) reported from New Orleans, Louisiana

This was back when the internet just started taking off. AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) was a black hole of possibilities. Information was being documented in one central place. Then social media connected us to people near and far that we never would've met otherwise.

  • mjparadis MjP (@mjparadis) reported from New Orleans, Louisiana

Web 1.0 was the “interconnected network” *inter net* created by US alphabet institutions Web 2.0 was AOL instant messenger and me buying Chinese Pokémon cards Web 3.0 is supposedly a decentralized internet? That is not possible Web 2.5 is you are going to start using NFTs

  • AmandaSuspended Herman Tissues (@AmandaSuspended) reported from New Orleans, Louisiana

@malber1 Lol seriously. Do they even know what pop up blockers are? I've been online since the early 90s. I was an AOL master. I will not stand for whippersnapper **** talk either.

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • RDBritannia Richard Di Britannia - Communication Skills Coach (@RDBritannia) reported

Much to my chagrin, I recently had to contact @AOL. I've never interacted with a company whose staff have such abject communication skills. My emails with them could become a case study on exactly how to deliver poor customer service.

  • jonfmorse ʝօռ ʍօʀֆɛ (@jonfmorse) reported

@cockybovine @specter177 We had this for sick time only at AOL, but it wasn't a problem until the implosion because until the implosion AOL was actually cool about it.

  • MaryEllenBarker Mary Ellen (@MaryEllenBarker) reported

@GiorgioGer1967 @ericareport We all know what a monopoly is Exclusive Control...AOL was a monopoly according to you until 10 years later Yahoo came along. Should AOL have been broken up because they were the only game in town?

  • Clover54Draves Harriett (@Clover54Draves) reported

@SeditionHunters @suevisa When my kids were young, one of my daughters was receiving hate emails from a girl at school. I reported the emails to AOL. They suspended the offenders account immediately. Boy was her mother mad...at me. Haha, too bad.

  • USA_TheRealMag The Real WOMAN ⚔️ (@USA_TheRealMag) reported

Strange in 1999 or it might of been early 2000’s online I started speaking with someone who told me he was a male and he worked for an airport. We had a couple of DM and the last one he said “I’ll be back,”this was the AOL days, hence he never did and my life destroyed!…

  • sevenfootrabbit h dodd (@sevenfootrabbit) reported

@NYYNick_ Honestly they overcomplicated ******** out of online dating. We used AOL messenger in the late 90s and it was easier than Tinder or any of the equivalents. Glad I’m out of that game but it really did just get worse and worse over the years.

  • MichaelChampla1 Michael Champlain (@MichaelChampla1) reported
