@DuckBurger4 stupid ******* people. man i miss the days when it was much much harder to get online. i blame AOL. Made it too easy for dumbasses to connect to the internet.

@Utilitywaremal still waiting in a call more than 2 week later on a dispute on pricing since you took over TalkTalk, absolutely abysmal service, overpriced & clearly don’t care about customers, was with aol/talktalk for 24 years with rarely an issue!

They want to go back to the internet being a bunch of walled gardens like in the AOL days. You can see it with the slow introduction of paid tiers and needing ID for social media apps. But unlike the AOL days people are used to having unfettered access.

@sfmcguire79 Saying that a Claude subscription can teach you how to think with AI is like saying that using AOL instant Messenger teaches you to be a network engineer. Elite schools should teach the tech that makes the product work, not lock kids into a subscription platform for life.

@Konviction_ *rephrase Sign up for AOL, get a pack of blank CDs. Walk into parking lot, call AOL to cancel. They hated me.

@JonKatz79 We just cancel it. Make up a new email and start over. Or we stop using the internet all together. I write checks. Don’t ever give out my phone number and use an aol email address I check once a month and delete 15,000 emails. I win.

@RealBookerScott I’m 23 out of 24 I never had a AOL acct. Barely had a MySpace but enough to be able to count it.

What’s this remind you of? I’ll go first, Intuit is one of the worst examples in recent memory:Mailchimp…. Intuit $INTU paid 12 billion dollars for Mailchimp in 2021, which has since stagnated with slight declines in recent quarters. Diworseification Hall of Shame: β€’ AOL + Time Warner (2000) β€’ Quaker Oats + Snapple (1993) β€’ HP + Autonomy (2011) β€’ Microsoft + Nokia (2014) β€’ Daimler + Chrysler (1998) β€’ eBay + Skype (2005) β€’ Sprint + Nextel (2005) β€’ Intuit + Mailchimp (2021) What else?
