Emily (@Ult1moHombre) reported@hthieblot I loved AOL. I was like 11-12 and spent hours curating my AIM profile and/or arguing about this or that in chats & forums. I remember obsessing over defending this awful movie, "Simply Irresistible", for days.
-
chelsedaabp (@chelseavo_) reported@hthieblot myspace, limewire, MSN and AOL... also Sims online was the first online game I ever played on my awful dial up and was so fun I would think about playing that all dang day.

-
elle 🤍 (@curethesmiths) reported1 - AOL messages didn't save back then (actually they never saved), so we don't have to worry about maggie finding those!
-
Gundam Explained (@GundamExplained) reported@Shr00msy @HMBohemond This isn't exclusive to the Gundam fandom and has been a thing since BBSs and AOL. It's individual people with bad takes and those takes are just as annoying as posts claiming 'all gundam fans' are annoying. A bunch of bored people on the internet don't speak for everyone.
-
Jeff’s Retro Gaming (@RetroJeff83) reportedYep. Got in BIG trouble as a teen because we didn’t have internet at home so I grabbed a free AOL disc from Kmart then snuck a line from the phone block through ceiling into my bedroom and accidentally picked a non local access number and let it run at nights racking up huge bill
-
#iheartMichaeljackson (@Sassy_Diva_2487) reported@AOL Oh look, another day, another broke-*** tabloid skeleton rattling its bones for clicks in 2026. @AOL yes, the same @AOL that’s been gasping for relevance since dial-up died rolling up like “Hey guys, remember that time we tried to cancel Michael Jackson with a raid that turned up NOTHING? Let’s rehash the ‘infamous’ Neverland Ranch again because Netflix needs your streams and we need ad revenue from you dummies who still click this trash
-
Abrasio Mysterioso (@STRAY_CAT_29) reported@hthieblot An AOL chat room on worst first date ever. It was hilarious
-
Bob Jones (@torus76) reported@AntiLeftMemes 19, never had an AOL address. I had my own ISP in 1992, with my own email address.

The Toy Investor (@thetoyinvestor) reported@FunkoPOPsNews Neopets made me who I am today. Still one of the GOAT games. There was a point where it was in the top three most visited websites daily I think? Right behind AOL and Google. They weren't afraid to actually make items limited. Now every game it seems like everyone has access to everything. I was 10 years old buying out the trading post of limited edition stamps and food items that were needed to get avatars for the message boards. I'd buy out the supply, stick them in my safety deposit box for a month or two, and then bring them back out at triple the price. Some things never change.
